Princeton users now have access to My China Roots, a database for researching Chinese genealogy. While the database focuses on genealogical research it has much to offer for the historical study of Chinese immigration to North America in the 19th and 20th century. The database includes Chinese exclusion records, immigration case files, identity certificates, zupus 族谱 and jiapu 家谱 (family tree books), alien case files, passenger lists, naturalization records, burial records, death records, association records and directories, financial records, military records, indices, and newspapers. The database has a focus on émigrés from Guangdong and Fujian province. It is also a very good resource for finding Chinese anglicized names.
The database was acquired in collaboration with Asian American Studies.
