Princeton users now have trial access to the Manhua (漫画; 漫画月刊) Digital Archvie.
Manhua was a pictorial magazine published in the People’s Republic of China from 1950-1960. The Manhua Digital Archive contains a complete set of all 164 published issues. The database allows browsing and full-text searching. The search however is character sensitive. At the beginning Manhua was published in traditional characters and gradually switched to using simplified characters. The database does not support simplified and traditional character mapping which means that it is best to try both versions. Searches with different character sets will return different results. Marquand Art Library also holds original copies of the first 163 issues of the journal: https://catalog.princeton.edu/catalog/99126219048106421
Access is available via: https://login.ezproxy.princeton.edu/login?url=https://dlib.eastview.com/browse/books/7850
Trial period: until February 28, 2026
Please note: The database currently does not support the Firefox Browser. Chrome and Edge should work fine.
